EndorsedLogo PlasticWe work both locally and nationally to ensure that fiscally responsible and socially progressive candidates are elected at all levels of government. We develop innovative ways to advocate for the issues that matter to our members and support legislation which has a positive effect in our communities.  We promote transparency and ethical practices in government.  We engage people in the political process and give them the tools to organize, communicate, mobilize, and enact change on the local, state, and national level.

Run-Off Election for Public Advocate

Polls are open from 6am to 9pm, Tuesday, October 1st.  Your poll site probably has not changed since the Sept. primary, but you can confirm at this link:  http://nyc.pollsitelocator.com.

New York election law allows for a run-off election if no candidate achieves more than 40% of the vote.  This happened on the September 10th primary in the Public Advocate’s race:  City council member Leticia “Tish” James and State Senator Dan Squadron are the two on the ballot tomorrow.  DFNYC members voted to endorse Tish James in this race.  See below for Volunteer opportunities and for more about Tish, check out her campaign website at http://www.letitiajames2013.com/

Our friends at DecideNYC.com, a non-partisan site for political information, have updated their Public Advocate page to reflect the run-off.   http://www.decidenyc.com/public-advocate/
