Please join us on Sunday June 8th for a special gala premiere screening of the documentary movie "Citizen Koch" at the IFC theater in the West Village.   In this movie, filmmakers Carl Deal and Tia Lessin, who are Michael Moore's frequent collaborators and co-producers of "Farenheit 9/11" and "Bowling for Columbine", look at the influence of big money in politics.

Tia and Carl look into the repercussions of the Supreme Court's Citizen United decison in 2010, which opened the floodgates for unprecedented and unregulated donations to third party SuperPAC political  groups.  This movie focuses attention on Wisconsin in 2011, when the Koch brothers SuperPAC, Americans for Prosperity, spent millions of dollars to support Governor Scott Walker's efforts to strip most public-sector employees of their collective bargaining rights.

"Citizen Koch" was a labor of love for Tia and Carl.  When PBS pulled their funding for this movie, out of fear of losing David Koch's donations,  they went to kickstarter and finished the film with funding from many of us in the progressive community.

DFNYC and Living Liberally/Screening Liberally are proud to host this premiere weekend screening to honor the work of Tia and Carl.  They will be there for a post-screening q & a and we will host a linkup for them after that at a nearby pub so that we can discuss the trials and travails of making progressive movies in the current economic climate.  This is a special event not to be missed!

The screening will be late afternoon on Sunay June 8th (time TBA) and if you rsvp, the IFC theater (friends to independent filmmakers everywhere) will give you $3 off the admisision price and we will provide the details of the post movie linkup event.
