EndorsedLogo PlasticWe work both locally and nationally to ensure that fiscally responsible and socially progressive candidates are elected at all levels of government. We develop innovative ways to advocate for the issues that matter to our members and support legislation which has a positive effect in our communities.  We promote transparency and ethical practices in government.  We engage people in the political process and give them the tools to organize, communicate, mobilize, and enact change on the local, state, and national level.

DFNYC Stands with the Victims in Colorado - By Rosalie Caliendo

By DFNYC Linkup Host Rosalie Caliendo:

It’s Happened Again

Friday morning, July 20, 2012 we awoke to the news that there had been another massacre, this time at a movie theatre in Aurora, Colorado.  Twelve of our citizens, including a 6 year old girl, were mowed down and murdered and over 50 others shot by a crazed gunman who had also rigged his apartment with explosives.

When will it stop?  The NRA claims to have 4.3 million members and yet less than 29,000 people have joined the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence and to ban assault weapons.  We must stop this insanity so please write or call your Representative and your Senators to urge them to reinstate the assault weapons ban.  It also wouldn’t hurt to call your State Representatives, your Mayor and Governor and tell them how you feel about this subject. Additionally, please sign this petition organized by Mayors Against Illegal Guns, sent to us by DFNYCer and Kate Anne:  signon.org/s/QWvTRN.
